Our story began in the land of northern sleep, between the extremes of deep darkness and endless light. We have enabled sound sleep from these unique origins for 60 years. Over the decades, we’ve grown into the pioneer of Finnish sleep expertise and one of the most well-known brands of Nordic sleep.
To celebrate our unique journey, we’ve created a special anniversary collection that combines the simple, Nordic design with the lasting, high-quality materials for which Familon is known. The collection is a limited edition.

It all begins with sleep
Where light and darkness gently take turns, and life follows the powerful rhythm of nature, something unique was born. Something that wraps around you with the same sense of calm as the northern fells, endless forests, or the waves of the Baltic Sea – a way to sleep better.
Finland was a nation in transition in the 1960s. Domestic industries were modernizing, and new materials and innovations were finding their way into everyday life. In 1966, a name was registered that would make its mark on the history of Finnish sleep: Familon.
Even then, we believed that good sleep is the purest form of wellbeing – and in the North, we know how to sleep wisely. Our goal was clear: to create mattresses and pillows that make sleep better for everyone, every night.

The Familon brand was registered in 1966. The name Familon comes from the words “family” and “porolon”, which means foam. The manufacture of foam, spring and box-spring mattresses began under the Familon brand. Already in the 1970s Familon was number one in the Finnish mattress, duvet and pillow markets and the technology leader in the European foam industry. Familon was also part of the everyday life of Finnish families with children, as the company provided the sleeping bag for the maternity package.
